IED – Design Universities from Italy wanted a portal for organizing calls for scholarships to their future students. The scholarships are granted to the winners of the competition where the students are asked to submit their work. One of the objectives of this portal was getting to know and employing the talented designers.
After analyzing this request, and communication with client who wanted platform that can be easily managed and updated, the choice was to build everything in wordpress network mode.
The main website www.creativecontexts.com as root wordpress blog is created to be provider of basic information about all the scholarship calls, while every competition has a separate wordpress instance.
We have dedicated special attention to the module that enable registered participants of a competition to take part in other competitions, so they can be part of multiple contests at the same time.
- WordPress Network mode
- Custom template development for each blog instance
- Custom plugins for registration, user roles and jury selection
WordPress network platform provides a very quick and simple way to administrate the competition, because:
New competitions are easy to create as new WordPress blog instance;
Existing competitions are easy to administrate thought standard WordPress dashboard;
All participants are members of the same database which gives a clear insight into every needed detail .
Based on the client’s requests, we needed to develop several Wordpress plugins for statistical information and CRM integration.
We expanded functionalities of the WordPress taxonomy and types of users, with profile management options and grants for data import and export.
Combining standard WordPress network mode with available plugins and developing special custom plugins for profile extending we got very powerful CMS that can be used to quickly setup full project (course competition environment and users registration) and give client more space for online marketing activities.
